Europe 2018 - July 23 - Bruges - Can You Say Chocolate?!

Monday - July 23
The morning started with laundry as we waited for the city to wake up. Our hotel had this very handy deck for hanging out our bike clothes to dry.
We will be walking tourists today. Most places don't open until 10:00 so we were in no hurry though there was a lot of art along the canal to keep us entertained.
The cat is greeting Lori through a glass door.
They are getting ready to give canal boat tours. There are 20 boats in the fleet. We'll be back later.
It turned out that Bruges covers a lot of "C's"
There are lots of Canals,

Churches,
Cyclists,

Carriages (not one of our 10 C's),
and CHOCOLATE everywhere!
All the chocolate stores were air-conditioned so that the chocolate won't melt on these very warm days. Donna made herself wait until noon to buy some but it was worth the wait.

The short door,
the medium door,
and the tall door!
The central square after lunch.

Waiting to board our boat.
The water was a cooler place to be this very warm afternoon and our guide was very funny.
Some of the art can only be seen from a boat in the canal.

This whale is made of plastic retrieved from the ocean.

We did some more wandering after dinner.

Our dear friend Mandy recommended that we stop in Bruges on this trip. Thank you!.....we thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
The green square with the triangle inside is the location of our hotel. Our wanderings took us all around inside the canal circle.
End of Week 5 - Cologne, Germany to Bruges, Belgium
235 miles - 378 kilometers
Total trip so far: 921 miles - 1485 kilometers
We added Country #3 and the 9th "C"
Cycling, Canals, (World) Cup, Camping, Churches, Castles, Construction, Chocolate, and Clarions.
Can you guess the last one? We are headed to The Netherlands tomorrow.
