July 22 - Goodby Copenhagen, hello Vikings

Wednesday - It is official....we are on the road again!
Did a little sight-seeing on our way out of town.
The Church of Our Lady Catholic Cathedral

From serenity to the chaos in the main square.
This is a very small part of the city but there must have been thousands of tourists in the area. And it was SOOO commercialized . We were glad that we had avoided it the past few days.
The fellow with the yellow umbrella is the tour guide.
City Hall

There are two gold statues in the tower called the Weather Girls. One is on a bicycle and the other carries an umbrella.
Tivoli Gardens....glad we aren't going there either!
We are sure we are losing something in the translation.
It only took us until almost noon to get out of the city but then it was pretty easy going.....except we had a headwind.

Our destination for the day was Roskilde because it had a very nice Viking Museum.
They have a wonderful hands-on area for the kids.

And boat wood-working areas for the big guys and gals.

These boats were recovered from the bottom of the bay.

Weaving sails out of flax.

The Roskilde Catherdral followed the Law of Castles....it was at the top of the hill and straight UP from the Viking Museum. It is an UNESCO World Heritage Site
We didn't tour the inside but could hear the magnificent pipe organ being played as we stood outside. It was our sound of the day which was much better than the pandemonium back in the square in Copenhagen.
Dinner on the pedestrian-only Algade Street, a pleasant way to end a pleasant day. And our bodies are almost in the right time zone now!
