Still we really liked it here in Trzebnica (pop. 12,000) and are a little sorry to be leaving. |
Just outside of town we found the Eurovelo 9 route again and it is going where we want to go until we get to the border of the Czech Republic. |
A very interesting entry in the outskirts of Wroclaw. It is construction season everywhere. |
This was a great bike path, except it was going the wrong way.....we went left when we should have gone right! |
This one is good too. |
The Odra River |
More high altitude gardening! |
The Edith Stein Park. She grew up in Wroclaw. She was a Jew that became a Catholic nun and was executed by the Nazis during WWII. John Paul II declared her the patron saint of Europe. |
Church of St. Michael the Archangel...the church you can see from the playground. |
Edith Stein's chapel |
This is about domestic violence. |
The Odra River has 2 branches here so a big part of the city is really an island. |
The art museum. We got to the motel at 1:00, changed clothes, stashed the bikes, ate lunch, and headed out on foot. |
On a hot day, the mall seemed to be the place to be. |
Still there were lots of people in the central square.....including us of course |
We had heard that Wroclaw had elves everywhere. We saw our first one when we stopped at the post office to get some post card stanps |
Guess someone thought this guy looked hungry (see the fork). |
There are 78 of these little guys scattered around, We picked up a map at the Tourist Information Officc, which is where this one appeared. |
We had dinner at a buffet in that big air-conditioned mall. It worked great because we didn't have to interpret any menus, we served ourselves and then paid by the weight of the food on our plate. |
Our last elf was back at our hotel, a fun way to end a good day. |
