August 9 - The Racers Take a Second Seat to the Spectators

Sunday - Leszno to Krotoszyn
The feet say it is plenty warm.
But outside it actually rained while we were loading the bikes and it actually felt cool.
We scouted out the airport while it was drippy and the rain stopped just as we started pedaling at 0800.
There must be World Championships for everything!
You can practice paragliding in this place.
The sun is up there somewhere but we aren't in a hurry to see it.

Stopping to pick up some Powerade.
Still making our way through Leszno.
Doug thinks that chasing the pigeon off Jesus' head might earn him a few heaven points.
In Pawlowice
House for sale.
Deer stands for sale too. Hopefully they offer delivery services!
In Krobia at 11:30 and it is still only 75F! ATMs are pretty abundant in Poland and the exchange rate is really favorable right now. The lack of campgrounds hasn't really mattered because it has been so cheap to stay at hotels.
Just a typical house
A little bigger version.
Son and Sun
Could be the Central Valley of California.
We stopped in Pepowo for lunch.
Came out of the bakery, the lead motorcycle appeared and all of a sudden we were in the middle of a bike race (found out later that it was the Polish National Team Time Trial Championships).
We ate our pizza rolls in a park on a shady bench and watched the racers zooming by. After about 10 minutes of giggling, these 4 just had to know what we were up too. From left to right....Matuesz, Dagmara, Susanna, and Julia. Susanna was the one who acted as translator and was also brave enough to start the conversation. We really enjoyed talking to them but we still had miles to go and it was heating up.
In Stroke....first time we've seen a place to sit at one of these shrines.
The old version and new version of the church in Kobylin.
Hay bale art is just one of those things that we have found to be universal. These are in Lutogniew at the entrance to the town....
....and these were at the other end.
Krotoszyn has a lot of sister cities!
The bikes get a little classier place to stay tonight.
If you look really closely at the top floor, 4th room from the right, you can see our laundry hanging from the railing. It did get over 90F this afternoon which does help the clothes dry.
We have a great view but wish there was a little more of a breeze blowing in our windows.
