2017 MinnWisMi - Fargo, North Dakota to Hawley, Minnesota

Saturday - September 2
Fargo, ND to Hawley, MN
Pretty quiet streets this morning. There is a lot of reconstruction work in the downtown area right now. Bet the locals will be glad when it is done!
There wasn't a sign but that bridge crosses the Red River which is the state line between North Dakota and Minnesota. We are entering Moorhead, MN.

The roads around here have really nice shoulders. (so does Doug ☺)
There were also wide bike paths along several of the main roads. We suspect they get a lot of snowmobile use in the winter.

Solar and wind all in one spot. That is also the water treatment plant in the background....a true multi-use place.
An addition to our list of interesting items to be found on the shoulder of the road.
The first of several crossings of the Buffalo River....which looks like a slow creek right now.
Time for a break from the main road (Hwy. 10) and a snack and bathroom break at the picnic area.

There is also bluestem prairie research area associated with the park.

Our last full day in the prairie. The chorus of the grasshoppers accompanied us most of the day.
Getting a little Canadian smoke as we reach our destination for the day. All the towns have these beautiful  entry signs but a lot of them are well outside the current city limits. We still have a couple of miles to go.
After checking into our motel we did a little touring around town. This school looks like it also participates in Safe Routes to Schools activities. We will miss our walking school bus this month.
Time for laundry, catching up on the journal and getting the blog going....the legs know that the tour has really started even though it was a pretty short day. We didn't get many miles in the last couple of weeks due to the smoke, the wedding, and the company!
