2017 MinnWisMi - A day off in Saint Cloud

Saturday - September 16 - Saint Cloud
Started out the morning working on the blog so, just maybe, we might catch up. Then we headed out to do some exploring of the downtown area.
First up was the Farmer's Market right across the street from our motel.
Next up, Fitzharris Ski, Bike and Outdoor store to do some drooling.
St. Mary's Cathedral - our sound of the day was the bells which rang every hour
We didn't think we were in Florida.
The Stearns County Courthouse

Doug needed a book to replace the one he finished a week ago so we just had to spend some time in an old-fashioned bookstore.

It used to be a bank building now filled with shops and restaurants

See.....we aren't the only ones!
Quarks for lunch. It is a build your own rice bowl with lots of fresh vegetables to choose from. This is their 1st store but look out Portland, they want to expand.
Lake George Park....
.....where the St. Cloud Pridefest was happening. Lots of booths of all kinds, do-it-yourself arts and crafts,......
......bungee jumping,

..... and live music

We aren't sure what kind of seeds these are but they came out of a big pod, and were fascinating.
We got back to the motel at 1:30 and the predicted rain showed up about 2:15. We blogged and it rained on and off for about 2 hours.
We wanted to attend the 5 pm Vigil mass at St. Mary's. We got there about 15 minutes early and listened to the pipe organ music until the mass started.

Those columns are made out of marble.

They are fund-raising to do a $50,000 restoration of the pipe organ. Notice that they used 9 categories of angels for donation amounts. Some one was very creative!

Dinner at a nice, little Chinese buffet topped off our rest day and we did catch up on the blog. Thank you, Saint Cloud!
