2017 MinnWisMi - Aitkin to Brainerd

Wednesday - September 13 - Aitkin to Brainerd
A visit to the handy ATM across the road from the motel and we are on our way.
Mascot of the Aitkin High School teams. The adults could have been a little kinder to the teenagers when they picked this one.
Definitely back in farm country.
Totally brand new asphalt, no lines, and no traffic.....makes up for yesterday.
Looking at the apex of a big oxbow in the river.
We have seen so many cattails in the past week.
Just a little more color each day though it feels like we are about 2 weeks early for the best display.
A typical barn in this area.
The Cuyuna Lakes Trail

It would have been nice if this trailside mini-cafe was already open.
Yes, town in no where in sight yet.
Former junior high school now serves as the Franklin Arts Center.
One of the most creative bike racks we've ever seen and it is all made out of recycled bike parts besides.
Brainerd seems to have quite the sense of humor.

Some downtown art.

Mississippi River crossing #15
Brainerd is where we meet up again with the Paul Bunyan State Trail.

Bike maintenance and laundry, then a leisurely evening. The sun was very red at sunset due to some stray Canadian smoke. We hope they get some rain in the west soon! And that Florida drys out quickly post-Hurrican Irma. Maybe they could trade.
