Thursday - September 14 - Brainerd to Little Falls We got an early start today as there was some possibility of thunderstorms later in the day.
Beautiful but we wouldn't want to be the ones painting it!
The trail is quite well signed throughout the Brainerd area
Sometimes a bridge is more artistic underneath than above. The trail took us under this one...
.......so we could cross on a bike path lane totally separated from the vehicle lanes by a jersey barrier......Mississippi River crossing #16
Look close.....it's a wild turkey, first ones so far. We saw 2 flocks on this part of the trail.
Another old turkey (he made me say that)
We stopped at the park to find a bathroom. What we found in addition was a LOT OF MOSQUITOES. And our repellent was buried since we hadn't needed it in 2 weeks. Itchiness ensued.
It is pretty typical to see ATV/snowmobile trails running alongside most of the roads we've been on so far.
Mississippi River at the Nokasippi River Historical Monument site at Fort Ripley......more mosquitoes.
The truck pulled into The Fort Steakhouse at the same time we did......but we were there for lunch.
Camp Riley is a 53,000 acre training facility operated by the National Guard.
Holy Family Church in Belle Prairie is home of one of the oldest parishes in Minnesota.
