Selkirk Loop 2019 - Day 4

Thursday - July 4th - Happy Independence Day
Newport, WA to Bayview, ID
The kitchen was well stocked for breakfast and we had the place to ourselves so it felt very homey too. We were sorry to find out that they are converting their rooms to apartments over the next year or so.
Passed the Forest Service office on our way out of town. We are now on the South Lakes Super Side Trip route.
We have seen quite a few of these signs the last couple of days.
Some random art at our rest stop in Blanchard.
Our destination for lunch.

It was a busy place as they had just finished their 4th of July parade about an hour before we arrived. We could hear the music at the holiday festival in the park down the street but have too far to go to hang out and listen.

Farragut State Park is our home for the night. With all the things we had going on at home Donna forgot that this night could be an issue until 2 weeks ago. We managed to snag the last space they had available.
The park was a Navy training base during World War II. The lake is deep enough that they used it for submarine training.
It must be the most popular night to camp of the whole year.
The fellow that checked us in had not dealt with bicycle tourers before and had a little trouble with his computer since we didn't have a vehicle license plate. We said we could give him one if it would help even though the car is actually sitting in Sandpoint.
Oh....and our last minute space just happens to be a cabin. The logistics angels were definitely watching over us.
We found this flag on the side of the road earlier today. It was the quietest 4th of July ever as the park did not allow fireworks.
