Canada 2019 - Day 7 - Windsor to Kingsville

July 23 - Tuesday
Windsor to Kingsville
Looks like it is going to be a blue sky day!

Heading back to the Ambassador Bridge.

Goodby Detroit River.....again.
While we were looking at a bike path map on the edge of Sandwich Towne, a local cyclist asked if we needed help. He talked us through a route the would take us to Kingsville all on paths. We decided to take his advice. This is a view of the area from one of the bridges that take you over the roads.
Otherwise it is very flat.
When the paved path ended we got a little confused about what was next. Bob showed up just in time. A path connection had just been added this past year and isn't well known or marked so he rode with us until we reached the Chrysler Canada Greenway Trail. Thank you Bob!
The shade was much appreciated.
Each road junction had these sign posts. Each had the road name, the distance to the next road and how far it was to the town of Harrow.

Lots of sumac along the trail.

We never did figure out what this fibrous fluffy stuff was but saw it several times along the trail.
Happiness.......food right next to the trail and just in time for lunch.
This was one of the few open spots along the trail. One disadvantage of a trail with lots of shade is you don't really get much sense of the total landscape. The gravel on this trail is pretty bumpy so we were ready to get back to some pavement by the end of the day.
Pleasant Valley Campground had everything we needed including a laundry room. Quite the contrast from 14th floor last night to ground floor tonight!
We got to know Ian while using the wifi and eating ice cream as we waited for the laundry cycles to reach completion. He is very passionate about passing on an appreciation of the outdoors to his kids and very generously replenished us with a freeze-dried dinner so we would have a back up food supply.
Then about 5 minutes after we sat down after ordering a pizza for dinner, it started POURING and kept it up for an hour and a half. They let us sit in the cafe until they closed for the evening
End of our first week on the road, 217 miles, lots of heat and moisture, friendly people, angels of the road....and ice cream!
