Canada 2019 - Day 30 - Grand Bend to Sarnia

August 15 - Thursday
Grand Bend to Sarnia
Our bikes got to sleep outside last night and it looked a bit wet this morning.
We waited out the morning shower having breakfast in our room with some items we bought at the grocery store last night. This trail took us out of town.

It had started raining again and the Juicy Fruit Farm Stand made a dandy place to take a break. This gets our vote for most unique checkout counter ever.
They had food and art too.
It rained until just before we stopped for lunch in Kettle Point but the sunflowers didn't mind.
Another one of those name repeats that make you wonder which country you are in.
A rail trail appeared just when the road shoulder disappeared at the east end of Sarnia. What a creative way to recycle the rails!
This yard definitely contributed to the rail trail theme.
Bert stopped to chat while Donna was taking the yard picture. He gave us good directions and then decided he would just guide us through town so we could chat some more. He was on the committee that made the rail trail a reality and had some similar experiences with promoting active transportation.
Back on the waterfront at the Sarnia Yacht Club marina on Lake Huron.

Goodby Lake Huron. You spoiled us this past week! Maybe you liked us too and that is why you were crying (raining) this morning?
Hello St. Clair River.
The Bluewater Bridge connects Point Edwards, Ontario and Port Huron, Michigan. However, it does not allow bikes across either. That's OK though as we aren't quite ready to leave Canada and we do enjoy the ferry rides a lot.
Waterfront Park

Outside the visitor center. A beautiful evening in a beautiful place for our last night in Canada for this trip.
