Canada 2019 - Day 28 - Kincardine to Goderich

August 13 - Tuesday
Kincardine to Goderich
Hmmmmm.....I wonder how many I can strap to my trunk rack?
We got to spend a few miles right along the shoreline this morning.

Then the route went up to the farmlands.

Another nicely done barn quilt.....
.... and some interesting mailbox art as well.
This beautiful church building is now being used as the Kingsbridge Community Centre. It was built in 1903.

A very simple memorial compared to many we've seen. The area was a World War II air force training base.
We enjoyed a long downhill run to the Maitland River but, of course, that meant we had to go up to get to town.
Literally, a pillar of salt! Salt was discovered here in 1866 and has been a mainstay of the Goderich economy ever since.
These are part of gift memorial from The Netherlands honoring a Canadian general's role in the surrender of the 25th Germany Army towards the end of World War II. It was just installed in 2017.
Doug has found another hat at last! A local bike shop a couple of blocks away told us about the Custom Embroidery N Sew On as obscure source for ball caps. Kevin, the owner, even came out to chat for a bit. Ohhh...it helped that Doug forgot his wallet when  he went inside.
