Vancouver Delights

Friday June 28 - Our hosts left a box of warm croissants and fresh nut bread outside our door which made    a great start to our day.
Getting to see Miyuki (our Japanese "daughter") and meet her friend Sotoka made it even better. We got to see pictures from her recent trip to Mexico and Cuba over lunch. She is so adventurous!
After lunch we headed out to explore Vancouver.

After talking to the Tuskegee Airmen yesterday, we decided to check out the Chinese Cultural Centre which has a memorial to the World War II Canadian Chinese veterans who have a similar history to the Airmen.

The welcome icon that was used to symbolize the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
This group is called the Inspirelz. They kept us entertained for at least half an hour. We came away with 2 hand-written fortunes, a decorated clothes pin and lots of smiles.

Vancouver has done a lot with bike/pedestrian infrastructure since we were here in 2008.
The bike traffic counter showed over 2,600 when we came
by again on our way home.
