July 6 - Saturday - Just a word about our new water bottles.....we LOVE them. They are so so easy to keep clean which has been a problem on past trips.
We worked on the blog until lunch time hunger pangs overtook us. As a result we almost missed the Farmer's Market which closes down at 12:30.
Note the "sharrow". We've seen lots of bikers around town.
We bought some of these and they were quite yummy.
There was also a Arts and Crafts Fair just next door.
Did a little wandering finding art everywhere.
?????????
The plaque used to highlight historic buildings.
A statue that commemorates the Overlanders, the Canadian version of Oregon Trail settlers.
Temporary art done with chalk on the side of a bank.
And, of course, we had to check out the bike store.
We also visited the Kamloops Museum and Archives. The exhibits were all quite well done. There was one room just devoted to fly fishing.
This exhibit was all mug shots taken from 1886 to 1908 by the Ontario police. It was more interesting than you might think.
This guy was of particular interest because he was a bike thief!
After the museum we headed to the beach and did a little people-watching. This little guy was very industrious and entertaining. He kept his dad busy hauling water and shoveling.
The group in the water is a baseball team. The water was a bit nippy leading one of them to remark, "Ah Kamloops, The Bahamas of the North!"
Probably the biggest willow tree we've ever seen.
The kids were totally fascinated by this story of mixed up fairy tales.
We ended our rest day at the Sacred Heart Cathedral for the Vigil Mass. A special treat was a choir of young people that sings the first Sunday of the month accompanied by a very good guitarist.
