Monday - June 27 |
The predicted winds were supposed to be SSW at 7 later in the day and part of the route is straight south so we got an early start. |
The prairie version of our water reflection pictures. |
Everything is so green right now. We could see the road so far in front of us most of the time and it was hard to judge the distance. |
The traffic was relatively light all day and most of the vehicles pulled into the left lane. |
There were lots of huge fields with scattered oil wells and pipeline facilities. |
Important indeed.....this one means that our lunch stop is just ahead in those trees. We have been on the road for 4 hours...... |
......so a cold drink and a place to sit down were very much appreciated. |
It was also warm enough to shed any extra layers. Still only a light breeze! |
Looks like a dandelion but the seed head is 3 inches in diameter! |
Every ranch has a way to cross the highway so we took advantage a few times if it looked like a better shot from the west-bound side. |
Did a little laundry before we pedaled to dinner. At 55 miles, this was the longest ride we've done in months so we were REALLY hungry. |
Don's cooking came highly recommended and getting to talk to him was an added bonus. |
It has been a really pleasing day on the prairie. The people we've met have been so friendly and we are happy that we are able to appreciate their home at a slow pace. |
