Canada 2016 - Jasper to Sunwapta Falls - WOW!

Friday - June 17
It is time to hit the road. We really enjoyed our stay in Jasper and it looks like the weather is going to be a little drier the next couple of days. It rained this morning so we waited to eat lunch (leftover pizza) before we left.
It just seemed right to give Jasper, the Bear a goodby hug.
The Icefield Parkway has a great shoulder for biking. It gives you plenty of room for gawking and we are going to be doing plenty of that.
The Athabasca River and sunshine. That glacial blue is so pretty but it looks so COLD too.
Sunny but still not very warm.
At least we can see the tops of some of the peaks now.
One of the roadside beauties.

Still looking a little stormy.

This open, flat spot was just too enticing to pass up.
The resulting shot.

Didn't see a one.
We reached our destination, Sunwapta Falls Resort, without getting rained on at all. After a very tasty dinner we walked down to the falls. We had plenty of time since the sun didn't set until 10:21.  Looks like these roots have seen many, many footsteps.
Sunwapta Falls
A collision of water and rock that becomes a very narrow slot just downriver from this spot. A dramatic end to our first day on the road.
