Canada 2016 - Calgary to Strathmore

Sunday - June 26
It was still raining when we got up despite the weather forecast that said "Sunny and pleasant". We didn't have to check out until 11 and had only 30 miles to our destination for the day.
St. Thomas More had masses at 9:30 and 11:30 so we opted to go to the later one. It was still a little drippy during the 3 mile ride there but we had time to shed our rain clothes and put on some regular clothes over our bike clothes before mass started.

It is a very large and diverse parish and there were a lot of little kids around us since we sat in the very last pew.....Doug's favorite place. Donna likes having the different perspective since she is usually up front singing in the choir.
It didn't take us long to have Calgary in our rearview mirrors once we left the church.
They don't seem to believe in small houses out here.
Our gourmet lunch spot in Conrich......BUT it isn't raining!
We took Route 9 south to hit Highway 1 and had a slight tailwind (the winds are much more moderate today than yesterday!!!). This on-ramp is 0.6 mile long. It seemed like it would never end.
The shoulder is plenty wide. Even though the pavement is wet, it isn't raining now.

It is probably an invasive species but this grass looks so lovely along the edge of the road.

Pretty interesting combination.
We had to look twice at the price!
We took a spin around town after we dropped our gear at the motel.
Kinsman Park
It looked like kids could have a blast here, especially on a really hot day. Today it barely reached 70F but these two young ladies were having fun anyway. It turned out to be a very nice first day on the prairie.
