Canada 2016 - Bow Lake to Baker Creek

Tuesday - June 21
Breakfast wasn't served until 8:00 so we had plenty of time to photo the still morning lake reflections.
The change in the direction of the light did mask that amazing blue we saw yesterday.
A bit more clouds today but it is also a bit warmer.

Breakfast was also delicious.
We met Alex yesterday when we arrived. He was quite interested in Doug's bike so he let Alex take it for a spin. If it had not been fully loaded at the time, he may have gone a lot farther since it fit him perfectly! Alex, an employee of the lodge, is from Montreal and we enjoyed talking to him.
It took us 30 minutes to traverse the 2 mile length of Bow Lake. It was so beautiful that we were reluctant to leave too quickly.

We weren't the only ones.
It was mostly downhill the rest of the morning.
Even though it looks really stormy over Kicking Horse Pass we are still in the sunshine.
Herbert Lake
Goodby Icefield Parkway. You have been challenging but incredibly rewarding as well.
Hello TransCanada Highway 1 with your wildlife overpasses. We enjoyed you in 2013.

Had lunch at the same deli. We ended up having a delightful conversation with Bob and Judy from England. The storm seemed to pass by while we ate and chatted.
Looks like they have installed some new signs on the Bow Valley Parkway since we came through 3 years ago.
The road is the same though.....quiet and pleasant riding.
An hour later the thunderstorm caught up with us. We were just passing Baker Creek Resort so checked on room availability.
It just poured about 5 minutes after we checked in.
There was about an hour break in the storm at 4 so we did a little exploring.

Baker Creek

Our sound of the day. There was quite a wind as the train passed by too.

The view from our room. Dinner was delicious We don't normally talk about food but the banana chocolate chip waffle with espresso ice cream and chocolate sauce was TOTALLY decadent.
Jacuzzi tub....bike touring is really tough. Sometimes thunderstorms are really a blessing in disguise!
