Wednesday - Lichtenfels to Sand Am Main This was in the lobby of the hotel. It is only 50F this morning! |
This town is just full of angels. This truck driver was the 2nd person in ten minutes to jump out of their vehicle and make sure we knew the right way to go. It was a pretty confusing spot. |
The Banz Monastery up on the hill. |
Donna almost wore out the pavement riding back and forth while Doug perfected the shot. |
One thing about having most of your bridges bombed is that now most of them are pretty modern. |
An extra fancy bike path rest stop |
Needs no explanation but Doug would rather it had a coffee cup instead. |
The Zig stickers we first saw in Denmark are showing up again. Guess we better try googling them. |
Fully equipped bike repair station in a small village. |
Time for lunch when a nice shady picnic table shows up at the same time as the hunger pangs. (just east of Ebing) |
Church in Dippach...we couldn't find a name. |
Now that the river is bigger we are seeing more and more river barges like this one. |
This little roadside chapel was restored in 2010. It is just upriver from Sand Am Main. |
Insect condominiums. |
Lots of grassy space for tents at this campground. |
Dinner found us at a very popular local biergarten in town. |
The Sand Am Main central square. |
We've seen these kind of water features, stylized creeks, in the central square in a couple of small towns recently. |
Maybe it will be dry by morning? |
While we were at dinner this couple set up camp next door. |
Joerg and Gunhild are from Bamberg and are kayaking their way down the Main at a leisurely pace. |
