Day 24 - Sanger to Visalia |
When the tracks and the road are at diagonals is the trickiest type of railroad crossing. It's nice when it is nice and smooth like this one. |
They are serious when they say they are in the middle of "The World's Fruit Basket". |
A speed calming device for the bike trail? These were on each side of the intersection with a road. It is the first time we've seen this configuration. They also had good signing at the crossings. |
A mystery vine. |
Right behind those hills are the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There is so much harvesting and tilling going on right now that the air is pretty dusty so you will just have to believe us. |
The oranges are definitely NOT ripe yet. |
Baby orchard. Many young orchards in the area had to be replanted this year because of a hard freeze last winter. |
What looked like grapevines from a distance is actually kiwis! |
This is the driveway to sister Leslie's house. She and husband Ted live in the middle of an orange grove and we LOVE their oranges, especially in the middle of an Oregon winter. |
We get our own private Bed and Breakfast tonight. And it includes a delicious BBQ chicken dinner too! Watched the Giants lose to the Cardinals in the 9th inning. Sigh. |
