Day 15 - Long and Hot - Walnuts and Shade Breaks

Day 15 - Woodson Bridge SRA to Colusa.
Up with the sun to catch the beautiful early morning light.
This is in the bathrooms of the RV Park (must not have used spell check).
On our way.

This was our sound of the day. The workers are picking olives, calling to each other, clinking ladders, music.
Getting flatter all the time.
Kirkwood Cemetery
This guy posed while Doug took his picture.
This is Tony from Magalia. He just started his tour this morning. He is headed to Grants Pass. We hope the winds are not strong as he heads north though we really like our tailwind.
A huge solar power display outside a walnut processing plant.
William Ide's  Memorial. He was the first and only president of the California Republic. his grave is somewhere out in the field.
Today's theme has to be walnuts.
And olives.

The river reappears though it really hasn't been far away all day.
This was it for Glenn.
At last we can see one of the walnut harvesting machines that we have been hearing inside the walnut groves.
Sacramento River National Wildlife Refuge Complex - Packer Unit
Boy does that water look inviting. It is really hot and we are taking shade breaks more than we are taking bottom breaks as the miles pile up.
Walnuts.........shade break...........walnuts........shade break...........walnuts........shade break.
Walnut processing...........shade break.
This place was huge and about 3 miles outside of town..........shade break.
Hurray!........we made it....60 miles, 95F, tired legs, and wonderful hosts who put us in a downstairs king suite and gave us bottles of ice cold water. There was one room for us and one room for the bicycles. A short walk (after being rejuvenated by a shower) took us to Don Habanero's for an excellent meal. We were glad the campground was closed for paving as a real bed felt so luxurious after this long day.
