Canada 2019 - Day 32 - Algonac to Harper Woods

August 17 - Saturday
Algonac to Harper Woods
This calm sunrise doesn't give much clue to the thunderstorm that stopped over our tent at 3 am this morning, 5 minutes after Doug returned from the bathroom.
One of our neighbors came over to see if we were OK as she had been worried about us when the thunder started rolling.
We were, of course, quite snug and dry in our tent.
The bikes, on the other hand, got another bath.
The nice thing is it was a very mild morning temperature-wise.
We had planned to follow the trail all the way back to town but this was just a little too much water.
Algonac calls itself the "Venice of Michigan" because of the number of canals. This year they must really be feeling like Venice.
Breakfast at the Flaming Bar and Grill was totally decadent!
St. John's Marsh with much bluer skies than last time we rolled through.

It is good to see you again, Lake St. Clair
In Anchorville
We need one of these at our church!
The bridge on Jefferson is still out though they must have made some progress.
Back in the greater Detroit metropolitan area. It will be miles of city from here on.
Tonight we stayed at an AirBnb as the motels just weren't on our desired route or distance. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and even provided us a home-made snack.
