Canada 2019 - Day 22 - Mississauga to Orangeville

August 7 - Wednesday
Mississauga to Orangeville
We got to start out the morning on an awesome bike path just across the intersection from our motel.
Unfortunately, they are still building it so once again we are a bit early.
Our route took us past the Assumption Catholic Cemetery. This fountain is at the entrance.
This brought back very fond memories of visiting the Cologne Chocolate Museum in Germany last summer.
Our route also took us through some beautiful greenways in Brampton.

These paths took us under most of the roads but with all the high water this year, the path sometimes was a little muddy.

Definitely a one-of-a-kind paint job!

We think this might be a bus stop?

We stopped for lunch in at Butter and Cup Coffee in Caledon. While we were locking up the bikes, Omar walked up and was so excited to see us. He has a Long Haul Trucker with almost all the same set up as Doug's bike and he loves touring. He had to hear all about our journey and shared his desire to ride across Canada some day.
We talked for so long that wife Margaret came looking for him. It was fun getting to talk to both of them. It is too bad that he needed to leave for work as we would have loved to share lunch with them.

We are headed uphill all day today. What you can't see is that we also have a headwind.
Doug rescued this turtle from the middle of the road. We put him in the roadside ditch with hopes that he would like it better there.

We enjoyed this time on Kennedy Road but about a mile later it turned to gravel.
That sent us over to Highway 10 for the rest of the trip into Orangeville. If you look closely over Doug's right shoulder it seems like you can see all the way to Mississauga.
We were very happy to see this sign.....and the flower solar panel too.
It was just one of those days. We wanted to pull off the road to check the map for the location of Walmart as Donna's hornet bite was getting more swollen and itchy and some Benadryl cream was desireable. Doug did not see the lip that the reconstruction of the road had left on the gutter. Down he went. Fortunately, a big construction cone caught him and cushioned his fall so these scratches were the only result. Donna was too worried to grab a picture but it was actually a little comical to see him laying on that orange cone.
