Sept. 18 - Home is where the rain is!

Amtrak and Albany to Sweet Home
Saturday - September 18
The sunrise found us just north of Mt. Shasta. The clouds made it quite colorful.
After breakfast we stayed in the observation car for awhile. This is looking north across Klamath Lake. So far the train is on schedule! It kept getting grayer as we traveled north. Then it started raining as we climbed up Willamette Pass and didn't stop for the rest of the ride to Albany.

We are just hoping that they remembered to take our bike boxes and duffles off the train. Otherwise we are going to have to figure out another way home.
Here comes the baggage cart.

Looks like our trusty steeds made the trip in fine style. It took us about an hour to put everything back together and get on the road. It was wet but 64 degrees which didn't feel cool at all after 2 weeks on the coast.

Just needed a few more calories to fuel the ride home.

And it rained. We took another short break at the Safeway in Lebanon, one of our regular stops when we take a Sunday ride into Lebanon for lunch. Just 15 miles to go.
We arrived home under ever darkening skies and much wetness but we really did enjoy the ride home. The table saw took the picture with the help of  our gorillapod. The shower felt wonderful! Now the transition back to the ordinary. Hope you enjoyed the journey too.
Today's bike miles = 32.2
Total bike miles = 489.5
