Rhein Route

Waldshut, Germany to Basel, Switzerland
Day 54 - Friday - August 5
Even the kayakers were traveling with young kids.
This family is just finishing a 5 week tour that started in Berlin. We watched them set up and tear down camp. They definitely had the drill down. The youngest is 11.
A bridge built just for bikes and pedestrians.

Just a little single track to keep life interesting and test your riding skills.
We think this was here so we could say thank you for surviving the single track.

There is a bike shop hiding behind this fountain.
This is a managed forest. We are not sure if this is firewood or intended for some other use.
We have been leap-frogging this father and his 2 sons most of the day. Donna watched them playing in the fountain earlier.
"Hold my beer and watch this."
A romantic lunch spot on the banks of the Rhein.

There is a little girl on the front of that bike. She even has her own pedals.

Have beer will travel....they are all empty.

The city gate in Rheinfelder.

Most extensive collection of rubber duckys ever!

A Roman ruin called Augusta Raurica, used today for music concerts and theater.
Our sound of the day was this flute music floating through the amphitheater.

We want to go where????
About this time we teamed up with the father and 2 sons to find our way to the campground in Rheinach, a suburb in the south end of Basel.
We were standing at a traffic circle looking thoroughly confused when this kind gentleman offered to lead all of us the last mile to the campground. The rain held off long enough for us to get the tent set up and get our showers but that was all. We walked to dinner in the rain because the campground cafeteria was closed. The owner said she was too busy to serve dinner that night.
