July 17 and 18 - Europe 2015 - Getting started

Just click on a picture if you want to see a bigger version.
Friday - September 17 - At the Portland Airport with all our stuff. Doug's bike box barely fit through the elevator door!
This TSA guy was also a cyclist and he was so kind about us watching our bike boxes getting examined.
See you later Oregon.
See you later Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams (in the distance)
We had a lot of fun playing peek a boo with this 1 year old girl. There was a 1 year old boy in the same row across the aisle. Both of them were  pretty quiet the whole flight to Iceland. We landed at Keflavik at 6:30 Saturday morning their time (midnight our body time) and left 2 hours later for Copenhagen. We slept most of that flight.
Our bike assembly area in the Copenhagen Airport. Despite Doug's ever careful pre-trip maintenance, we found out that Donna's back brakes were not functional due to a stripped adjustment screw. We landed at 1:30 having moved ahead another 3 hours. It took until 4:30 to start rolling.
First stop - something to eat. The body has no idea what time it is. There is a hot dog stand somewhere in that crowd.
Good-by airport terminal, hello Copenhagen bike path.
We had decided to take our smart phones as much for navigation as anything. The trip from the airport to our apartment proved the wisdom of that decision.
First bike shop but it was already closed since it was after 5 on a Saturday. We'll have to wait until Monday to fix the brakes. Donna is doing fine with only her front brakes unless she has to signal a left turn.
First of many beautiful brick churches.
Our Savior's Church (built 1696) in Christianshavn. You can climb the 398 stairs in that spiral but we are not going there today.
This is a typical street all through town - separate lanes for motor vehicles, bikes and pedestrians.
Our lovely little "home" for the next 4 nights while our bodies catch up to the 9 hour time difference and 30 hours with only short naps. We used Air BnB to find it and it worked out really well.
