Day 2 - Heading to the Hills

Day 2 - Springfield to Oakridge
A very pleasant path to start the day.

Complete with artwork! This one is called the Snowball after Snowball XXX Flour, milled near here from 1854-1930. Noticed the grinding wheel "seat".
McKenzie River Drift Boat
The path followed the dedicated bus lane almost all the way to this main bus station.
Breakfast #2
The Willamette River
Dexter Dam
Lowell High School

Dexter Reservoir looking west
It's getting warm so we are glad for the shade on this side of the road.

It was the perfect place to eat lunch...a table in the.shade, nice scenery with a bathroom close by.

Middle Fork Forest Service Ranger Station
This fire is just over the hill from the ranger station but is not putting out much smoke today....lucky for us.

That sun looks suspiciously like the Oregon Duck O but then again, a beaver would  look out of place up in the sky.
Cascade Motel, one of our favorite places to stay when we are doing a ski patrol weekend in the winter.

And now they are Bike Friendly too! This is a program started by the State of Oregon. We are just starting to talk to businesses in our area about it in conjunction with our work on a new scenic bikeway in Linn County.
