Fort MacLeod To Pincher Creek

Monday - July 22 - It is going to be all uphill for a couple of days.
Highway 3 is also called the Crowsnest Highway. Crowsnest Pass is off in the distance......we are not going there.
Some things are sadly universal.
The blades are turning very slowly which is good news for us since its a headwind.

It was nap time for most of the young ones until we rode up.
Doug finally found a handy post to hold the camera.

Those tools holding up the sign are how Pincher Creek got its name.
In our efforts to avoid the afternoon winds we also happened to avoid this fast-moving thunderstorm as well. Sometimes things just work out!
It stopped raining around 3 p.m., so we headed into town to see their murals.

Our exploring brought us to this museum and Visitor Center.
We hadn't been there 2 minutes when we were introduced to David, "the local bicycle freak". He had actually seen us earlier as we were headed into town so he was primed. He and Doug could have talked bikes for hours. Dave currently owns 130 bikes, many of them rare or vintage bikes from custom framebuilders. He is showing Doug his latest acquisition (the box hadn't even been opened yet). It is a 1937 Rudge Whitworth and it has a rare type of brake.
David introduced us to Russell who told us that his mom would give us tea in Twin Buttes if we stopped on our way through tomorrow.
We finally did browse around the museum a bit. Seemed a little weird to see Velveeta in a museum exhibit!
