Windy Everywhere

Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Keflavik, Iceland
Day 87 - Wednesday - September 7
Moving out day. We are thankful for these luggage carts as it makes the process so much smoother and quicker.
Loaded up one more time.
It isn't raining (yet) but it is certainly windy - a 20 mph headwind again.

This bike path will take us all the way to the airport terminal.

In real life this wind guage was a blur.
It looks even more impressive when a 747 is taxiing overhead.

Portland Airport should take a lesson on bike boxes from Schiphol. These are easy to assemble, very sturdy, and require minimal bike disassembly (remove pedals and handlebars).
The repacking of all our gear is almost complete. Just a little more tape should do it!
However, moving the boxes through the airport to check-in is a little challenging.

Does that mean the companion is lumpy?
Goodby canals and windmills......
Hello, lava and wind in Keflavik, Iceland. The boxes make pretty good sails. We only had to tack once to reach the parking lot.
It looks sunny and warm but it is about 40F with a windchill to 28F. The  hotel is located on a US air base decommissioned in 2006. It was the 6th largest community in Iceland in the 1980's. Closing it had a major economic impact on Keflavik and other nearby communities.
