Ibis Hotel to Burgerveen to Ibis Hotel
Day 85 - Monday - September 5 Checking Accuweather for expected bike riding conditions. The Wifi was only free in the public areas so this cafe was our "office" for most of our stay.
The predicted morning shower came just as we reached the tunnel under the airport runway.
Sunny times are ahead though.
Lifeboat test center. Do they give rides?
We did have a 15-20 mph headwind as we headed south along the lake but the sunshine compensated. Notice the banner.
We sat out one more squall in Burgerveen at a cafe where we just had to eat a slice of Dutch-style apple pie/cake. Yummmmm.
Our last old windmill. The tailwind coming back north was worth our earlier effort.
Wonder how this tricycle handles a tailwind?
Day 86 - Tuesday - September 6 Back to Amsterdam on a wet, blustery day.
We came in search of two photo museums. One was open and one was closed to install a new exhibit.
It looks like a church or government building but it is really a shopping mall.
Look what I found....a quilt store!
The guy on the roof was Doug's entertainment while Donna got her fabric fix.
Must be trash day because we saw a lot of these piles. Guess they don't use collection containers here.
The Flower Market, a much more lovely place than the marijuana market.
Our smell of the day.
Did you know there is a Museum of Bags and Purses? Right up Doug's alley, don't you think? We did not go in. It wasn't covered by our museum card.
We did go in the Amsterdam Historical Museum. These leather shoes were recovered from dump sites used in the 1400's.
A decorative support used in a house.
Ceremonial cups from the 1600's.
Telling the city's story by way of the bicycle. It has been a big part of life here for the last 150 years.
Goodby, Amsterdam
